Lakbay Photo - The Ruins

The Ruins at Night
The Ruins Reflection at Night
Dubbed as the Taj Mahal of the Philippines, The Ruins is one of the to go to list when one goes to Bacolod City. Behind the grandeur of the building hides a tragic love story of Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson and Maria Braga.

The Story Behind the Image

I arrive at this place at around 2pm to check what are the nice angle of this building so that when the golden hour strikes, I will be able to capture its beauty. But unluckily, the golden hour I'm waiting for didn't show up and I was force to stay a little longer hoping to capture The Ruins at night and I didn't regret that I waited for it. This image was a collaboration between one of the caretakers of the building, he did assist me to set-up this shot, the reflection and likes. I will be updating this post with updated set on Visiting The Ruins at Night

Lakbay Photo - The Other Side of Siargao

General Luna, 2011

Here is my first entry for Lakbay Photo. I'm always fascinated on capturing the beauty on rural life living. As soon as I noticed an old man driving his bike to work, I quickly turned on my camera and have a snapshot of it though it may turned out good when i have a telephoto lens. But it's no stopping me to capture what i want to see, always make use of what you got and don't afraid on what would be the results.

Summer of '12

Summer is just around the corner, almost everyone is planning where to go. As I was browsing through my archives, I remember that there were no summer nor holidays for me since the day I finished my studies. But for now, I will be hibernating from travel and photography and hoping that it will not take that long. For the next following days, I will be posting photos and notes from my travels. It's official, 2012 SUMMER begins and Lakbay-Pinoy is back online. Go ahead and plan your travels!   Explore 7,107 islands :)

Bacolod Government Offices

Capitol Park and Lagoon, Bacolod City
Sculpture on the main entrance of the lagoon

The Capitol Park and Lagoon is a provincial park located in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental..One of the features of the park is a sculpture depicting a carabao (Water Buffalo) being pulled by a woman. The lagoon's figures were made by Italian sculpture Francesco Riccardo Monti who also executed the sculptures of the Metropolitan Manila Theater and the University of the Philippines - Visayas Iloilo campus. Guillermo Tolentino also contributed as a sculptor of the figures. There are several popular activities in the park. These include jogging, aerobics, school dance rehearsals, promenaders, Arnis and martial arts practitioners and the feeding of the tilapias of the lagoon.

Bye Iloilo - Hello Bacolod (Best Chicken Inasal)

Supercat bound for Bacolod
It's hard to say goodbye to a place that has not yet so much been explored by myself. There are still so many beautiful sites that I could have visited but my time doesn't permit me to go to that places. But  this Iloilo-Negros journey is not yet over, later I will be arriving at the City of Smile - Bacolod.  I arrived at the ferry terminal in Iloilo around 2.45 P.M to catch a 3.15 schedule for a Supercat trip but the original plan was spoiled again. I wasn't able to bought a regular fare for Supercat which was P 183.00 (student discount), so the cheap ass me looks for a cheaper alternative and found out that Weesam Express (Iloilo - Bacolod) has an ongoing promotion. They have their last trip promotion which will cost you P 160.00 (limited seats available). Then, I have to wait for the 5.30 P.M schedule. I am now reorganizing my itinerary because the primary plan for that afternoon is to head for The Ruins after I arrived at BREDCO at around 4.00 P.M.

Molo Church (Day 3 of Iloilo-Bacolod Escapade)

Molo Parish Church, Molo, Iloilo City, Philippines

The church, which is dedicated to Santa Ana, the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, has larger than life images of female saints lined in two rows (eight on each side) inside the church, each standing on a pedestal attached to a massive stone pillar and under the Gothic style canopy. - www.thenewstoday.info

One thing I love in visiting Iloilo is their old structure that dates back from the Spanish Era. I have been dying to see a Gothic Renaissance inspired architecture which back then I only knew that it can only be found on European countries. But I was surprised that it can also be found here in the Philippines.
